"As a board of Hands and Voices of Rhode Island, many of us parents ourselves, we envision a future
where no family feels alone upon learning their child is deaf or hard of hearing. We aim for a world
where every parent is equipped with the knowledge, resources, and community support they need to
confidently navigate this journey. We dream of a society that views deafness not as a limitation, but as a
unique human experience that enriches our community with diversity and resilience.
We strive for a Rhode Island where every deaf and hard of hearing child is granted unbiased access to all
communication modalities, enabling them to connect, learn, and thrive in their own unique ways. Our
hope is that every family feels empowered, finding strength and inspiration within our community, and
that every child grows up in a world more understanding and inclusive than today.
We don't just see a world that accepts deaf and hard of hearing children; we see a world that celebrates
them. This is the vision that drives us on the board of Hands and Voices of Rhode Island."
